When we are young we read fairy tales that say a prince would come on a white horse, sweep the princess off her feet, take her to the palace, get married and they live happily ever after. When we grow up we always keep on looking for that prince charming to come and sweep us off our feet so that we can have that life. But in reality does that prince charming ever come? Or when you feel that it is the prince charming do we live happily ever after? And when we feel that we are in love with the prince who meets us one fine day, does that love lasts for ever?

So what is love? Well it’s not that the dictionary doesn’t have the meaning of love, but I wonder how many of us understand love.

To be in love you need that special spark in some one, there should be a reason to love that person, yes a reason.

Let me tell you about an old couple who has been married for more than fifty years. Though they have been married for fifty years the love they share has never changed. So what is the reason? When asked the man replied “When I first saw her she is very young and when I fell in love with her I knew why I love her. I loved her “oagaatherikan” (sorry I just can’t find the exact word in English) Now she has lots of wrinkles on her night dress and her youthfulness is gone. But I still see that “oagaatherikan” in her eyes. As long as that “oagaatherikan” is there our love will last. And she loved me in the name of god and I know that she would never do anything that I could not forgive her”

Sometimes it’s very easy for us to say those three words. But do we ever think why? What is it that you love about that person? Is it because he or she cares about you? Is it his or her voice? Or is it the physical appearance?  Is it the personality? What is it?

So think before you say those three magical words “I love you”
